Three P’s Housing Coalition Celebrates Movement of SB 330 to Speed Housing Production

Sacramento, CA — The Three P’s Coalition for Housing Production, Preservation, and Protection released the following statement after SB 330 (Skinner) moved out of the Assembly Appropriations Committee:

“Production is one of the key components to the multi-pronged approach California needs to solve the housing crisis.  The Three P’s coalition -- a broad and diverse set of organizations from business, labor, housing, environmental justice, local government, and other sectors -- strongly supports SB 330 (Skinner) because Governor Newsom has called for 3.5 million new homes by 2025, and reports show we must at least meet 180,000 units of housing each year just to keep up with population trends. Many local governments have policies and ordinances that delay housing production, from the permitting process to the approval process. This bill takes meaningful steps to re-establish good government standards for permitting zoning compliant housing projects by making a number of changes to local planning processes for the next five years.”

The Three P’s coalition represents a broad and diverse set of organizations from business, labor, housing, environmental justice, local government, and other sectors who have come together to secure California’s housing future. These organizations have united behind the 2019 Plan for Housing Production, Preservation, and Protection. The bills must pass the Assembly before the September 13th deadline.
